WORKSHOP - EMBELLISHED QUILTED VESSELS
Description: |
Learn to make a simple pattern for a fabric vessel, cut the sides from stiff stabilizer, crazy quilt the sides. Then we'll have fun with decorative stitching, lots of embellishments (learn to make fabric and ribbon flowers, beaded fringe, and many others) and tons of different ideas to decorate, then easily construct your one of a kind sculptural art. Pure fun!!!

This is an online, personalized, interactive, 2-session course of 5 total hours delivered via Zoom; which will allow real-time, virtual interaction with teacher. Recording of classes provided to students. Full access to teacher between classes via email.
Group workshops can be customized and include 5-6 total hours of instruction, preferably split into 2 days. |
Tools & materials: |
For in-person workshops, all materials will be provided in your materials kit. You just need to bring a rotary cutter (any size), scissors, a small cutting mat, and your sense of adventure!
For students participating via Zoom, Full handout and pattern choices will be emailed to registered zoom participants well in advance of the workshop. and materials kit can be ordered in advance. Supply list if no materials fee or supply kit: 1. ½ yard of a heavy weight stabilizer. If it has fusible on one or both sides that’s helpful. Phyllis uses Pellon Peltex 71F one-sided fusible. I will have this product available at the retreat if you would like to purchase it from me at $8 per half yard. 2. Bunch of coordinated fabric scraps (about 4 fat quarters or large scraps) 3. ½ yard fabric for the inside of the vessel 4. Fancy fabrics like velvet, satin, etc – if you have it, bring it ! 5. Embellishments – beads, yarn, cords, trims, lace, fringe, tassels, old jewelry, buttons, charms, Angelina, ribbons, glitter glue, rion flowers, silk flowers or leaves, shells, seeds, foil, anything you can sew or glue that won’t decompose. Bring what you have and be prepared to share, and borrow from others. Phyllis is bringing some goodies as well ! 6. Sewing machine, preferably with some decorative stitches (Optional – but a good time to start using all those fancy stitches you have never used before) 7. Variety of coordinating threads 8. Pins, hand sewing needles, pen or marker 9. Glue stick, glue gun (very handy) 10. Scissors, rotary cutter and mat |
